Cannibalism, werewolf trials, deceit, and murder... Marie Hassenpflug and the Brothers Grimm are editing the darkness out of old stories. Little by little, the voices of the storytellers who created the tales are eroded away. What will be saved and what will be forgotten?
The Grandmothers Grimm explores women’s role in the creation of the Brothers Grimm’s famous anthology. Discover a night of folk and fairy tales as you've never heard them before.
Some Kind of Theatre are proud to tour The Grandmothers Grimm this autumn with support from The Touring Network. Some Kind of Theatre are Edinburgh’s literary theatre company, creating plays out of and about books and the people who read and write them. They have created work for venues and historic sites across the UK, including the Palace of Holyroodhouse. The Grandmothers Grimm was first developed at the Edinburgh Horror Festival and at the Assembly Roxy three years ago. Some Kind of Theatre are delighted to revive the show here once more.
