At Assembly Festival, we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment that is accessible to all. We are dedicated to ensuring that your visit is as enjoyable and hassle-free as possible. ## Planning Your Visit
Please be aware that some of our performances may include loud noises, flashing or strobe lighting. All shows will have an Event Warnings in the Event Information on their show listing. We display any content warnings prior to the show starting, but if you require more information, please ask our Front of House team on the day or email to **[access@assemblyfestival.com](https://assemblyfestival.com/mailto:access@assemblyfestival.com)** prior to your visit.
If you require a personal assistant or carer to attend any of our shows, they are eligible for a free companion ticket. We welcome accessibility dogs across all our Assembly venues and encourage you to speak with our Front of House team upon your arrival for any assistance required.
We recommend arriving 20 minutes before the show start time, to speak to the Front of House team at the venue. They will be able provide information and assist with any access requirements you may have.
There are trained First Aiders at all of our venue hubs, please speak to a member of staff if you require any information or assistance.
Customers who require medical items with them to attend are asked to make this known to the venue prior to arrival. Prescription medication should be contained inside the original packaging with your name that must be verified with your ID.
## Enhanced Performances
We offer a range of BSL Signed, Captioned, Audio Described and Relaxed Performances, as well as Touch Tours, throughout the festival. This year's shows with Enhanced Performances can be searched for on the [**What's On**](https://assemblyfestival.com/whats-on) page via the Accessibility filter, and will be listed below once confirmed for Fringe 2026.
A signed performance is a show that incorporates sign language interpretation, often used by individuals who are D/deaf or hard of hearing and use sign language. A BSL (British Sign Language) trained interpreter will usually stand at the side of the stage during the performance to interpret spoken dialogue, lyrics, and sounds from the show.

Audio Described performances include an additional audio track that describes the visual elements of the production, including details of the movements of actors, costumes, props, scenery and lighting. These performances may be beneficial for individuals who are blind or have low vision.

Captioning performances involves displaying synchronised dialogue, lyrics and sound effects as text on screens or devices during live shows. This may be beneficial for people who are D/deaf or hard of hearing, people with learning disabilities and anyone who's first language is not the same as the language the show is performed in.

Relaxed performances are designed to create a more relaxed environment for people to enjoy theatre. These performances can be a great experience for individuals with disabilities, sensory sensitivities or anyone who would benefit from a relaxed environment. They offer a relaxed atmosphere, sensory adjustments, and trained staff to provide a comfortable experience.

A touch tour is a guided tour of the stage, theatre and set where individuals can explore and interact with the tactile elements of a performance or exhibit. This may be useful for people with visual impairments, with learning difficulties or neurodiverse individuals. Touch tours can be used in coordination with relaxed performances and audio described performances to further enhance your experience.
